Facebook Marketplace alerts for game consoles
Consoles are the category where speed decides everything. An underpriced PS5 posted at 8pm is gone by 8:20, and the person who got it was not searching — they were notified. Everything below is about getting the notification to fire on the right listings and stay quiet on the rest.
The other half of the problem is that accessory sellers put the console's name in the title. Search "ps5" and you get controllers, faceplates, stands, and single games, all of which technically match. Exclusion words do more work here than in any other category.

Consoles move within the hour, so cadence matters more than radius here. Excluding 'controller only' and 'case only' kills most of the noise, because accessory listings use the console name in the title.

Radius and price
How far to look
Keep this tight — 20 to 25 miles. Console margins do not survive a 50-mile round trip, and a wide radius mostly adds listings you will never drive to. The one exception is a bundle with several games, where the total is high enough to justify the fuel.
Where to put the price band
A floor of about $60 filters out the accessory listings that slipped past your exclusion words, because a lone controller is rarely posted above it. Set the ceiling at the price where the flip stops being worth your evening, not at retail.

Check these before you hand over cash
An alert gets you to the listing first. Everything after that is on you, and this category has its own specific ways of going wrong.
- Power it on in front of the seller and open the settings screen — a console that will not boot is the single most common bad buy in this category.
- Check the disc drive by inserting any disc; drive faults are expensive and invisible in photos.
- Ask whether the account has been signed out and the console factory reset. A device still tied to someone's account is a support headache.
- Look at the fan noise under load. Heavy dust or a rattling fan means service work before resale.
- Confirm the power cable and at least one working controller are included — replacing either eats the margin.

How fast do I need alerts for consoles?
Faster than any other category on this list. Good console listings are typically gone the same evening, so a 24-hour scan will mostly show you things that already sold. If consoles are your main category, the 5-minute cadence is the one that matters.
Should I search by model or just 'console'?
By model. Searching 'console' returns everything from Atari clones to TV stands. Naming the specific models you can actually resell — and the common misspellings of each — is what makes the watchlist usable.
Why exclude 'digital' if digital consoles still resell?
You do not have to. Exclude it only if you buy disc models exclusively. If you handle both, keep it in and rely on the price band instead, because the two models have genuinely different resale values.
